Addictive Cravings & What Triggers Them
The energy behind addiction is the energy of craving something outside ourselves to fill a void. This void is based in pain that often goes back to childhood (There is always a root that needs to be found and pulled).
We often try to fill the void with external measures but by doing this we can never truly succeed.
This void is just perceived. It isn’t real. It feels like a void because one is feeling a disconnect from the soul. This feeling of empty and incomplete inner space is painful and symbolically feels like a whole needing to be healed. This hole and need to fill it is a false perception.
The challenge is to wait in the emptiness and often loneliness — trusting that a healthy way to fill it will appear.
It is feeling divine internal love and divine love from source makes it possible to trust.
What makes such waiting possible is the presence of the force of divine love. True unconditional Love intercepts the craving.
When we can’t tap into this love, the cravings to fill the hole lead to many different strategies. Food, drugs, alcohol, smoking, sex, shopping, video games, work, toxic relationships, codependency, and more fill these holes. All of these are coping mechanisms to deal with inner pain.
How do we release this pain and connect with authentic love?
The pursuit of your soul calling, being on path, and enjoying the often journey will provoke a divine connection that will eventually lead to filling the hole. With this, pain will lessen and cravings to fill the hole will subside.
Connecting with Divine love brings an awareness of truth of oneself and a trust in the process. We start to trust that everything happening is meant to happen exactly the way it is happening. Even things that feel like mistakes, that feel imperfect, and that feel awful are divinely orchestrated.
It is an awareness that the universe was created in love and that we are part of that creation.
This realization from the heart brings a sense of peace, joy, and serenity while bringing clarity and depth to life that is profound.
